Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Inspection

BAT & Coatings, was contacted by a Northern California Water Company to perform an inspection on a water tank.  We contracted Pro-ROV Services, LLC to perform a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) inspection.  The inspection was performed on April 10, 2017, using a SeaBotix LBV (Little Benthic Vehicle).  ROV and tether disinfection was performed on site, then the ROV was deployed into well through an open-air access point.

During the inspection there is a no-flow situation inside the well, with pumps in the off position

A box inspection was used in order to cover the entire well.  This was accomplished by moving down one outer well wall, dropping down 2 feet and then back along the same wall until the bottom of the tank is reached.

Each roof support column or pillar was inspected in the same manner.

The purpose of the inspection is to identify and log the overall condition of the underwater water portion of the interior well, as well as look at the blades of each pump.

Winter is here……

Preventative maintenance is the key to extending the life of your storage tanks. With all the rain we get here in the northwest corrosion is a fact of life. Rain water can cause extensive damage in both aboveground and underground storage tanks. Above ground storage tanks are especially susceptible to pitting on the roof and around the bottom chime due to excessive water build up, while underground storage tanks can either be completely submerged in ground water or have rain water get into the tank from a leaking riser pipe or from a sump that is not water tight.

BAT&Coatings can help you by inspecting your tanks visually and with an ultrasonic testing to let you know the structural integrity/longevity of your tanks through the SP001/API-653 inspection process, repair/replace leaking sumps or risers, and internally or externally coat or cathodically protect you storage tanks! BAT&Coatings has the experience and training to handle any project and get you back in regulatory compliance.  Winter is here……
